Analytics Engineer

About the Role

Join Metabase's operations team as an Analytics Engineer to transform disparate customer and community data into actionable insights that drive product strategy and customer success.

Responsibilities

• Iteratively refine data assets, build robust data models, and facilitate self-service analytics across the organization.
• Organize and perform complex data transformations using advanced SQL and Python.
• Conduct deep-dive data analysis to answer critical business questions.
• Mentor and educate team members on data best practices and self-service analytics techniques.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with business users, designers, product managers, and engineers on data ingestion, modeling, analysis, and storytelling.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional experience as an Analytics Engineer, Data Analyst, Data Scientist, Data Engineer, or similar role.
• Extremely strong coding proficiency demonstrated by writing 100+ lines of complex SQL queries/models or 1k+ lines of OOP Python scripts.
• Proven ability to express complex business processes clearly through data models and visualizations.
• Strong data modeling or data integration skills.
• BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, Economics, or an equivalent technical degree is preferred.

Nice-to-Haves

• Experience working within a B2B SaaS environment.
• Familiarity with tools like dbt, Postgres/Redshift, Fivetran, or dlt.
• Experience with dimensional modeling, data engineering, data science (machine learning), or LLM/AI applications.
