Engineering Team Leader

About the Role

Lead and mentor a small, high-performing product team to drive optimized execution on ambitious engineering challenges. This is an exciting opportunity to balance hands-on development with significant people leadership in a fully remote, globally distributed environment.

Responsibilities

• Manage a product team consisting of 3-5 backend and frontend engineers.
• Dedicate approximately 30% of time to management activities, actively participating in product development for the remaining time.
• Lead and support the entire onboarding process for new engineers joining the team.
• Act as the team's spokesperson, managing team dynamics and fostering an environment where individuals can excel.
• Provide continuous, constructive feedback and actively manage the career growth path for each direct report.
• Guide and coach the team on engineering best practices and efficient processes.
• Participate in hiring processes for your team and assist peers as needed.

Requirements

• Proven experience managing an engineering team of at least two people.
• Extensive hands-on experience with Backend technologies, specifically Elixir/Phoenix.
• Solid understanding of engineering and development principles and best practices.
• Strong organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail.
• Demonstrated ability to inspire confidence and motivate team members.
• Commitment to fostering diversity, equality, and inclusion within the team and organization.
• Excellent communication skills and a people-first approach to process efficiency.

Team Impact

• You will report directly to an Engineering Manager and be responsible for the output and growth of 2-5 engineers, directly influencing the success of our core HR platform development.
