Frontend Engineer, Product Engineering

About the Role

Join Clerk's Product Engineering team as a Frontend Engineer to build intuitive, high-performance user interfaces that define the future of authentication and user management.

Responsibilities

• Develop, test, and deploy robust, high-quality frontend features for Clerk's core product suite using modern JavaScript frameworks.
• Collaborate closely with Product Designers and Backend Engineers to translate complex requirements into seamless user experiences.
• Optimize application performance, ensuring fast load times and responsiveness across various devices and browsers.
• Participate in code reviews, contributing to a culture of technical excellence and shared ownership.

Requirements

• 3+ years of professional experience building complex, production-grade web applications.
• Deep expertise in modern JavaScript (ES6+), TypeScript, and at least one major framework (e.g., React, Vue, Angular).
• Strong understanding of state management patterns, component-based architecture, and frontend testing methodologies (e.g., Jest, React Testing Library).
• Proven ability to write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code.

Nice-to-Haves

• Experience with Next.js or similar server-side rendering frameworks.
• Familiarity with building and maintaining design systems or component libraries.
• Experience working with APIs, particularly GraphQL or REST.
