Frontend Software Engineer

About the Role

Join our fully distributed team to advance the state of the art in data analytics tooling, building elegant and simple user interfaces that empower tens of thousands of companies to gain insights from their data.

Responsibilities

• Craft delightful user experiences, paying close attention to details and copy.
• Build fast, thoughtful, and performant user interfaces using React and Redux (or equivalents).
• Write clean, maintainable code, including comprehensive tests and thoughtful code reviews.
• Manipulate complex data structures to solve computer science-y problems.
• Utilize and contribute to our CSS/styling framework, adhering to the company style guide and working with design systems/component libraries.
• Adapt existing code and integrate new features seamlessly into a large, complex JavaScript codebase.

Requirements

• Strong product sensibilities combined with extraordinarily good frontend skills and solid software engineering fundamentals.
• Prior experience shipping non-trivial applications using React and Redux (or equivalent).
• Deep knowledge of JavaScript and React.
• Proven experience writing tests, providing constructive feedback on code reviews, and writing clear technical proposals.
• Excellent communication and clarity, essential for a remote-first environment.
• Ability to write fast and performant code and handle significant data structure manipulation.
• Comfort and necessity in working with CSS, design systems, and component libraries.
• Experience working on and adapting to large, complex JavaScript projects.

Nice-to-Haves

• Knowledge or prior experience with data visualization, especially involving dc.js and d3.js.
• Previous contributions to open source projects.
• Familiarity with or interest in learning Clojure (the backend language).
