Head of Marketing

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Head of Marketing to redefine and lead the narrative for Sourcegraph, a critical infrastructure provider in the agentic coding era. This is an exciting leadership opportunity to drive strategy, manage high-performing teams, and directly influence how the world's leading enterprises adopt next-generation developer tools.

Responsibilities

• Report directly to the CEO and manage existing Demand Generation, Growth, Marketing Operations, and Developer Relations (DevRel) teams.
• Define and execute the technical product marketing and brand marketing strategy to bring Sourcegraph's core AI-era story (Deep Search, MCP, Agent APIs) to the market.
• Collaborate closely with Engineering, Product, and Customer teams to ensure authentic storytelling that resonates with developer and enterprise audiences.
• Own and drive alignment with Demand Gen and DevRel teams to ensure measurable results against key marketing metrics.
• Roll up sleeves to execute core marketing activities including strategy building, content creation, social media marketing, and customer interviews.

Requirements

• 8+ years of work experience in product marketing, brand marketing, or demand generation, with recent experience specifically in the developer tools or AI space.
• Proven track record of successfully managing and leading marketing teams to deliver verifiable results.
• Strong ability to speak authentically to a developer audience and craft compelling narratives for enterprise customers.
• Demonstrated quantitative thinking, comfortable making tough prioritization decisions backed by data, and owning critical marketing metrics.
• Excellent writing skills and comfort with putting bold ideas forward quickly.
• Experience working within an environment serving enterprise customers.

Nice-to-Haves

• Some experience or familiarity with writing or maintaining code, demonstrating empathy for the developer process.
• Willingness to work in the Bay Area office 2–3 days per week (Note: The role is listed as Remote, but this preference was noted).
