Open Source Community Advocate

About the Role

Join our mission-driven team as a customer-focused Open Source Community Advocate to help users gain insights from their data using Metabase. This is an exciting opportunity to be the voice of our customers and directly influence product success in the data analytics space.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support and guidance to Metabase users across public channels, including the Discourse forum, Twitter, and other data communities.
• Help customers with data extraction, transformation, and query creation for use with Metabase.
• Gather user feedback and collaborate with the writing and product teams to improve documentation and product direction.
• Represent Metabase in community settings, potentially including webinars or in-person events.

Requirements

• Strong technical background, demonstrated by 3-5 years of writing production code or administering systems.
• Excellent written communication skills, capable of clearly explaining technical concepts.
• Experience using data visualization or data analytics tools.
• Expertise in at least one of the following areas:
  • Running Metabase on various operating systems for multiple years.
  • Strong background in networking and web application functionality.
  • Server management (physical, Docker, AWS/GCP, etc.).
  • Database management and strong SQL skills.
