Principal Product Manager - Developer Platform

About the Role

Lead the evolution of our Developer Platform, guiding the creation of world-class APIs and developer experiences that enable AI-augmented software developers to build and ship applications faster.

Responsibilities

• Guide the evolution of PagerDuty's API and developer experience for internal teams, customers, and partners.
• Define and drive the platform strategy, aligning REST API and MCP capabilities, especially in collaboration with the AI team.
• Define API access control, monetization requirements, and partner with relevant internal teams for implementation.
• Engage deeply with developers to understand their needs within their daily tools (IDPs like Backstage, IDEs, chat tools, etc.) and deliver strategic integrations.
• Prioritize input from internal development, professional services, external customers, and ISV partners.
• Partner closely with engineering and UX design on API structure, design, and overall developer experience.

Requirements

• 5+ years of product management experience in SaaS, enterprise software, or developer tools.
• Deep knowledge of integration architecture, patterns, platforms, and API best practices.
• Technical depth sufficient to collaborate effectively with senior engineers on API structure and design.
• Hands-on experience working with third-party APIs and designing RESTful APIs.
• Proven success in high-velocity product teams delivering customer value iteratively.
• Strong customer empathy and a track record of data-driven decision-making using analytics tools.
• Ability to lead through influence and communicate complex technical topics clearly to diverse stakeholders.

Nice-to-Haves

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
• Strong understanding of incident response and DevOps workflows.
