Senior Backend Engineer (Elixir)

About the Role

Join our cross-functional engineering team to build and scale critical tools, APIs, and integrations for our global employment platform using Elixir and Phoenix.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development of major team-scoped projects and actively participate in cross-team initiatives.
• Design and implement high-performance, scalable, and maintainable APIs.
• Actively participate in product work by providing technical feedback and suggesting product improvements.
• Provide constructive feedback on code reviews and contribute to the shared codebase.
• Mentor and guide other engineers on best practices and technical approaches.
• Investigate, propose, and implement platform improvements.

Requirements

• Significant professional experience as a Backend Engineer working with Elixir, including building, shipping, and maintaining complex software projects.
• Proven experience with Postgres or similar relational databases.
• Experience utilizing CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitLab, GitHub, Jenkins).
• Ability to debug and solve complex technical and business issues.

Nice-to-Haves

• Experience with cloud infrastructure, specifically AWS.
• Familiarity with containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
• Exposure to modern frontend frameworks such as React, Nextjs, or Vue/Angular.

Role Context

• You will be working within a cross-functional development team focused on a specific product vertical.
• The backend stack is built primarily on Elixir/Phoenix with a Postgres database, hosted on AWS, utilizing a robust CI/CD system for frequent deployments.
