Senior Backend Engineer (Elixir)

Responsibilities

• Lead the development of major team-scoped projects and actively participate in cross-team initiatives.
• Design and implement APIs prioritizing performance, scalability, and maintainability.
• Actively participate in product work, providing technical feedback and suggesting product improvements.
• Maintain a deep understanding of the team's domain from both product and engineering perspectives.
• Mentor and provide guidance to other engineers on the team.
• Contribute to the shared codebase, provide constructive feedback on code reviews, and debug complex technical and business issues.

Requirements

• Significant professional experience as a Backend Engineer building, shipping, and maintaining complex software projects using Elixir.
• Proven experience with Postgres or similar relational databases.
• Hands-on experience utilizing CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitLab, Github, Jenkins).
• Ability to work effectively in a fully remote, asynchronous environment.

Nice-to-Haves

• Experience with cloud infrastructure, specifically AWS.
• Familiarity with containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
• Exposure to modern frontend frameworks such as React, Vue, or Angular (specifically Nextjs mentioned in the stack).

About the Team Impact

Our backend is built primarily with Elixir and Phoenix, backed by Postgres, and hosted on AWS. You will be part of a cross-functional team, deploying multiple times per day, relying heavily on our robust CI/CD system. Your work will directly contribute to scaling our platform to support global employment compliance.
