Senior Full-Stack Engineer, Internal Tooling (Design Systems)

About the Role

Join our growing, fully remote Design Systems team to build and maintain critical internal applications and automation tools that directly enhance the efficiency of our design and operational workflows. This is an exciting opportunity to leverage your full-stack expertise to solve real-world process bottlenecks across multiple services.

Responsibilities

• Build full-stack internal applications using modern web technologies like Next.js, React, and Node.js.
• Create integration tools connecting services such as Slack, Notion, and Figma to streamline design operations.
• Design and implement necessary APIs and databases (SQL/NoSQL) to support internal tooling requirements.
• Develop dashboards and interfaces providing visibility into design team operations and performance.
• Identify workflow inefficiencies and build pragmatic, custom solutions to address them.
• Integrate solutions with our existing Ruby on Rails backend where necessary.
• Deploy, maintain, and improve the reliability and quality of the internal tooling codebase.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience as a Full-Stack Engineer building robust web applications.
• Strong proficiency in modern JavaScript/TypeScript, React, and Next.js or similar frameworks.
• Proven backend experience including API design, server-side logic, and database management.
• Demonstrated comfort working with and integrating multiple third-party APIs.
• Experience building internal tools, admin dashboards, or workflow automation systems.
• High proficiency in English (CEFR C2 / ILR Level 5).
• Pragmatic approach to technical decisions, balancing speed and quality for internal tooling.

Nice-to-Haves

• Experience working with AI/LLM APIs (e.g., OpenAI) for automation or classification tasks.
• Previous experience building tools specifically for design teams or creative workflows.
• Familiarity with workflow automation platforms (Zapier, Make, n8n).
• Experience integrating with or working alongside a Ruby on Rails backend.
