Software Engineer (Backend)

About the Role

Join our fully distributed team to build elegant, simple data tools that bring business intelligence to tens of thousands of users globally. This is an exciting opportunity to ship major features end-to-end across our Clojure and JavaScript codebase.

Responsibilities

• Ship major features end-to-end across the JavaScript/TypeScript frontend and Clojure backend codebase.
• Tackle and resolve complex backend issues as they arise.
• Work with a strong focus on product sensibilities and deeply care about the end-user experience.

Requirements

• Proven track record of shipping products of significant complexity.
• Experience shipping production code in Clojure or JavaScript/TypeScript, or a strong desire to learn Clojure.
• Solid Computer Science background, acquired through formal education or production experience.
• Ability to make sound technical judgments and articulate reasoning clearly.

Nice-to-Haves

• Familiarity with machine learning, compiler theory, or modern big data infrastructures.
• Experience with JDBC and database integrations.
• Knowledge of the Java ecosystem and JVM tuning.
• History of open-source contributions.
