AI Tooling Engineer

About the Role

Join our engineering team as an AI Tooling Engineer to shape developer experiences in the AI era by building and maintaining high-quality AI tools and integrations with Supabase. This is an exciting opportunity to advance the AI ecosystem and work on developer-friendly tools.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain Supabase's AI tools, including the MCP server and AI assistant in the dashboard.
• Centralize AI logic across Supabase products and services.
• Design and implement evaluation frameworks to measure AI performance, accuracy, and reliability.
• Create and update AI and vector guides.
• Develop content and integrations with partners.
• Ensure libraries and tools are fully battle-tested with comprehensive test coverage, benchmarking, and stress testing.
• Write clear, high-quality documentation and guides.
• Work closely with open-source communities, gathering feedback and iterating on improvements.
• Stay updated with the latest advancements in the JavaScript/TypeScript ecosystem.

Requirements

• Strong experience in JavaScript/TypeScript.
• Up-to-date knowledge of AI trends and best practices.
• Familiarity with Postgres and database best practices.
• Experience with vector databases and embeddings (preferably with pgvector).
• Experience with the JavaScript/TypeScript ecosystem (npm, ES modules, bundlers, browser compatibility).
• Strong focus on writing tests with frameworks like Vitest or similar, ensuring high test coverage.
• Familiarity with networking concepts (HTTP, WebSockets, authentication).
• Experience working with open-source projects or maintaining developer tools.
• Strong communication skills and a passion for building developer-friendly tools and experiences.
