Assistant General Counsel, Government Relations

About the Role

Join our growing legal team at the world's largest Bitcoin ATM Network in a unique dual role that merges strategic government relations with broad legal advisory responsibilities. This is an exciting opportunity to shape policy and provide critical legal counsel in the rapidly evolving fintech and cryptocurrency space.

Responsibilities

• Government Relations (Primary Focus): Monitor, research, and analyze federal and state legislative developments impacting fintech/crypto, and represent the company's interests before legislators and regulators.
• Advocacy and Strategy: Assist in managing lobbyists and provide timely strategic guidance to leadership on legislative risks and opportunities.
• Legal Advisory (Secondary Focus): Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of commercial agreements, including vendor, NDA, and SaaS contracts.
• Product and Compliance: Provide legal guidance on product development and go-to-market initiatives, ensuring compliance with consumer protection, AML, and other applicable laws.
• Corporate Support: Support corporate governance, litigation matters, and participate in regulatory examinations and inquiries.

Requirements

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree and active license to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
• 5+ years of combined experience in a law firm, government, or in-house legal department.
• Minimum of 2 years of direct experience in legislative or government relations roles.
• Demonstrated knowledge of federal and state legislative processes and regulatory frameworks affecting fintech or cryptocurrency.
• Strong legal drafting, negotiation skills, and the ability to distill complex legal concepts into practical guidance.
• Willingness to travel up to 25-50% as needed.

Nice-to-Haves

• Prior experience working directly with or within government regulatory bodies or legislative offices.
• Familiarity with financial services regulations such as BSA/AML, consumer protection, and money transmission laws.
• Experience working in a high-growth or startup environment.
