Backend Engineer

About the Role

Join Deel, a rapidly growing fintech platform, as a Backend Engineer to build the essential infrastructure for the future of global work. You will tackle complex challenges at the forefront of the global work revolution, empowering millions by enabling seamless global payroll and HR solutions.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and optimize scalable backend services for our global payroll and HR platform.
• Design and implement robust, secure, and high-performance APIs to support various platform functionalities.
• Ensure the reliability, security, and efficiency of critical financial systems.
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional product and engineering teams to define, design, and deliver new features.
• Participate in code reviews, contribute to architectural discussions, and drive best practices.

Requirements

• Strong professional experience in backend development, ideally within a fintech or high-growth SaaS environment.
• Proficiency in one or more modern backend programming languages (e.g., Python, Go, Java, Node.js).
• Solid understanding of database systems (SQL/NoSQL) and experience with designing RESTful or GraphQL APIs.
• Familiarity with scalable, distributed systems and microservices architecture.
• Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure) is a plus.
• Ability to thrive in a remote, globally distributed team environment.
• This is a full-time, remote position based in Belgium.
