Build Systems Engineer

About the Role

Join the CI/CD - Turborepo team as a Senior Build Systems Engineer, playing a crucial role in enhancing the efficiency, reliability, and developer experience of Vercel's build and deployment systems.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the design, implementation, and maintenance of Turborepo, ensuring high performance and seamless integration with the deployment platform.
• Identify opportunities and lead projects to enhance performance, reliability, and developer experience of CI/CD on Vercel.
• Improve developer experience for both large and small codebases.
• Stay abreast of industry trends and advancements in CI/CD technologies.
• Engage with the open-source community and contribute to related projects.
• Write clean, efficient, tested, and well-documented code.

Requirements

• At least 5+ years of relevant experience and 1+ years writing Rust code.
• Experience designing and maintaining APIs and distributed systems.
• Strong proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript and experience with modern frontend development tools.
• Interest in the challenges faced by building and orchestrating other engineer's code.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
• Opinions about how to architect scalable codebases.

Nice-to-Haves

• React or Next.js expertise.
• Experience building ergonomic CLIs.
• Experience contributing to or participating in open source projects.
• Familiarity with frontend frameworks and their build processes.
• Knowledgeable about file systems, graph data structures, and software build systems.
