Chief Compliance Officer

About the Role

Lead Kraken's compliance strategy and operations in Canada, navigating the dynamic regulatory landscape of digital assets to ensure growth and integrity.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement the overall compliance program for Kraken's Canadian operations.
• Act as the primary liaison with Canadian regulatory authorities (federal and provincial) regarding compliance matters.
• Oversee and enhance Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Know Your Customer (KYC) policies, procedures, and controls in accordance with Canadian requirements.
• Provide expert guidance to the leadership team on regulatory changes and their impact.
• Lead internal compliance training and awareness initiatives.
• Conduct regular risk assessments and audits of compliance procedures.
• Manage regulatory reporting and filing obligations.

Requirements

• Proven experience in a senior compliance leadership role within the financial services or cryptocurrency sector in Canada.
• Deep understanding of Canadian financial regulations, including FINTRAC requirements.
• Strong knowledge of AML/KYC best practices and implementation.
• Experience interacting with Canadian financial regulators.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and strategic thinking skills.
• Ability to manage complex regulatory environments.

Nice-to-Haves

• Experience specifically in the cryptocurrency or fintech industry.
• Legal background or relevant compliance certifications (e.g., CAMS).
• Experience building and leading a compliance team.
