Contracts Administrator

About the Role

Join Newsela's mission-driven Legal team to manage and drive critical contractual relationships, playing a key role in scaling our rapidly growing education technology platform.

Responsibilities

• Review, draft, and negotiate a variety of customer and third-party contracts, including school district agreements, vendor contracts, content licensing, MSAs, and NDAs.
• Serve as the primary point of contact between the Legal team and internal departments (Sales, IT, Finance, Product, etc.) for commercial transactions.
• Interpret and clearly explain complex contractual requirements and associated risks to internal business stakeholders and external parties.
• Manage end-to-end contract lifecycle activities, including template generation, negotiation, drafting, and post-signature management for RFPs and data protection documents.

Requirements

• 2+ years of experience as a Contracts Administrator negotiating complex agreements.
• Demonstrated experience partnering with business stakeholders to drive contracts to successful execution.
• Proven experience with government and commercial agreements, SaaS/software contracts, and technology procurement.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to concisely explain commercial and legal issues to diverse audiences.
• Demonstrated success in managing multiple complex contract negotiations simultaneously.

Nice-to-Haves

• Experience with contract lifecycle management tools such as Ironclad or Docusign.
• Familiarity with Salesforce or managing legal matters in Jira.
• Certificate from an ABA approved paralegal or legal studies program (JD is a plus).
