Data Engineer - Data Platform

About the Role

Join Kraken's Data Platform team as a Data Engineer to build and maintain robust data pipelines and infrastructure, empowering data-driven decisions across the organization. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a critical platform that fuels our growth and innovation.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable and reliable ETL/ELT data pipelines.
• Build and optimize data models for analytical, reporting, and operational use cases.
• Ensure data quality, integrity, and security across the data platform.
• Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and software engineers to understand data needs and deliver solutions.
• Monitor and troubleshoot data pipelines and infrastructure to ensure high availability and performance.
• Contribute to the evolution of our data architecture and best practices.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar data-focused role.
• Strong proficiency in SQL and at least one programming language (e.g., Python, Java, Scala).
• Experience with cloud data platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure) and big data technologies (e.g., Spark, Flink).
• Solid understanding of data warehousing concepts, data modeling, and schema design.
• Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git).
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Nice-to-Haves

• Experience with real-time data streaming technologies (e.g., Kafka, Kinesis).
• Knowledge of containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
• Familiarity with cryptocurrency, blockchain, or financial data.
• Experience with infrastructure as code (e.g., Terraform).

Work Arrangement

This is a full-time, remote position open to candidates located in Canada, Brazil, Chile, and Mexico.
