Data Science Manager - Video/Social Media

About the Role

Lead a team of data scientists to shape Canva's video strategy and drive growth in the dynamic social media space.

Responsibilities

• Partner with Product Leads to define and execute the video strategy.
• Lead and coach a team of embedded data scientists focused on video creation, editing, publishing, and discovery.
• Own and analyze key product metrics across the entire video user journey.
• Drive high-quality experimentation, from hypothesis generation to rollout recommendations.
• Identify key growth levers within the video product and prioritize initiatives for maximum impact.
• Enhance experimentation standards, metric definitions, and data foundations.
• Translate complex analysis into clear, actionable insights for decision-making.

Requirements

• Proven experience leading and coaching data scientists in a fast-paced product environment.
• Deep expertise in experimentation, retention, and lifecycle analytics.
• Fluency in SQL and proficiency in Python or R for advanced analysis.
• Experience working with large-scale product datasets, balancing rigor with speed.
• Ability to translate ambiguity into clarity and guide teams towards evidence-based decisions.
• Passion for developing others and elevating data science craft and impact.
• Experience navigating the technical complexities of media products, with a strong preference for video technology.
