Deputy MLRO, AU Compliance

About the Role

This pivotal role as Deputy MLRO (AU) supports the Regional Compliance Officer in ensuring robust compliance with AUSTRAC and global obligations. You will be instrumental in overseeing AML/CTF programs, enhancing entity licensing, and contributing to international compliance initiatives across the Group.

Responsibilities

• Maintain oversight of AML/CTF obligations and monitor the effectiveness of controls.
• Support internal reporting to senior management and governance committees.
• Contribute to the maintenance, enhancement, and execution of the AML/CTF program, including risk assessments, policies, and procedures.
• Support entity licensing uplift projects and workstreams, ensuring readiness for regulatory inspections and audits.
• Provide assistance with global compliance requests, cross-border reporting, and international projects.
• Engage with Group-level initiatives to align AU operations with international compliance standards.
• Assist in preparing submissions, policy updates, and responses to global regulatory developments.
• Monitor the evolving regulatory landscape, including digital assets, AML/CTF, sanctions, and financial crime risk.
• Provide structured analysis and insight to support compliance planning and decision-making.
• Draft, maintain, and roll out compliance policies.
• Provide timely and accurate compliance reporting for internal stakeholders and Group functions.

Requirements

• Experience in compliance, legal, or risk management.
• Strong analytical and research skills, with the ability to interpret regulatory changes.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of producing high-quality reports and policy documents.
• Strong organizational and prioritization skills, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
• Collaborative mindset, able to work effectively in an international team.
• Mandatory knowledge of Australian regulatory requirements; ability to work across jurisdictions and learn new frameworks quickly.
• Comfortable interacting with regulators, auditors, and global compliance teams.
