Director, Engineering - Billing & MSP

About the Role

Join 1Password as a Director of Engineering to lead our critical billing and Managed Service Provider (MSP) initiatives, shaping how customers and partners experience billing at scale. This high-impact, remote role (United States | Canada) offers the opportunity to own the Channel Partnerships platform end-to-end, driving innovation and strategic growth.

Responsibilities

• Lead and direct engineering efforts for billing and MSP technology, ensuring robust and scalable solutions.
• Own the Channel Partnerships platform, encompassing partner onboarding, entitlement management, and API integrations for MSPs, resellers, marketplaces, and distributors.
• Collaborate cross-functionally to design and implement channel-specific billing pipelines, revenue share models, and invoicing dashboards.
• Drive innovation in pricing experiments, promotions, gift cards, trials, and specialized MSP tools.
• Ensure system integrity, performance, and compliance by leveraging feature flagging, A/B testing, analytics pipelines, architecture standards, SLIs/SLOs, and automated deployments.

Requirements

• Proven experience in an engineering leadership role, specifically within billing, payments, or channel partnership platforms.
• Strong background in designing, building, and operating scalable, high-availability systems.
• Demonstrated ability to drive strategic technical initiatives and collaborate effectively with product and business stakeholders.
• Expertise in modern software development practices, including system architecture, compliance controls, and automated deployment pipelines.
