About the Role

Join Paddle as an Engineering Manager to lead a high-impact team focused on our critical, high-traffic checkout system, playing a pivotal role in transforming our payment infrastructure for digital product companies globally.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate the end-to-end delivery of initiatives, from concept to rollout, collaborating with engineers and cross-functional colleagues.
• Hire, manage, and coach engineers, fostering their personal and professional growth and ensuring team impact.
• Partner with the Product Manager to define and execute the team's roadmap, optimizing for sustainable impact.
• Drive continuous improvements in team processes and practices, with autonomy to implement effective changes.
• Oversee technical decisions and define the technical strategy within your product area, contributing as a technical leader without direct code contribution.
• Contribute to improving the reliability and scalability of Paddle’s high-traffic, event-driven systems.
• Collaborate with other engineering leaders to shape department-wide principles and practices.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of experience as a senior software engineer working on complex, large-scale systems with a consumer-facing UI.
• Minimum of 2 years of management experience with several direct reports, ideally across both front-end and back-end disciplines.
• Demonstrable understanding of what constitutes a high-performing and sustainable engineering team.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, comfortable leading technical discussions with diverse stakeholders.
• Strong interest in and ideally experience with building products that handle payments or are critical to revenue generation.
• Ability to work closely with product, design, infosec, and legal teams to ensure systems are effective, secure, compliant, and scalable.

About the Team

Our cross-functional Product Engineering teams consist of a Product Manager, Engineering Manager, and 4-8 engineers, each with clear product ownership and goals. We are supported by dedicated functions like Design, Data, InfoSec, and Platform to enable end-to-end delivery of our roadmap. Paddle operates as a Merchant of Record, simplifying payment infrastructure for over 5000 software sellers worldwide.
