Engineering Manager

Join us as an Engineering Manager for our Metrics and Retain team, where you'll lead the development of world-class data insights and automated customer retention products. This is an exciting opportunity to scale a critical application used by tens of thousands of companies to manage their payment operations.
Responsibilities
- Lead, coach, and develop the engineers in your team, fostering their personal and professional growth.
- Partner with the team's Product Manager to define and execute a successful roadmap for sustainable impact.
- Drive continuous improvements to the team's processes and engineering practices.
- Oversee technical decisions and define the technical strategy within your product area.
- Contribute to the wider data strategy of Paddle and continuously improve the reliability and scalability of our high-traffic, event-driven system.
- Collaborate with other engineering leaders to shape the department's engineering principles and practices.
Requirements
- At least 2 years of engineering management experience with several direct reports.
- Proven background as a senior software engineer, having worked on complex, large-scale, cloud-based systems.
- Strong understanding of what it means to be a high-performing and sustainable engineering team.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Nice-to-Haves
- Experience with Python or similar programming languages.
- Prior experience working within a team that operated with data pipelines and/or data analysis.
About the Team
You will lead a cross-functional Product Engineering team, typically comprising a Product Manager and 4-6 engineers. Our teams operate with clear product ownership and autonomy to choose the best tools and approaches. They are supported by functions like Design, Data, InfoSec, Platform, and Developer Experience to ensure end-to-end delivery of their roadmaps.
