External Contractor - Autonomous Flight Mentor

Responsibilities

• Provide expert technical support to students enrolled in the Autonomous Flight Nanodegree program via an online community forum.
• Answer complex questions related to course content, facilitating learning for students facing technical challenges.
• Host one weekly live virtual session to offer direct, real-time support and community building.
• Redirect learners to appropriate support channels and escalate critical technical issues to the Mentor Operations team when necessary.

Requirements

• Minimum of 7 years of relevant industry experience OR a Master’s degree in a relevant technical field.
• Fluency in English, both written and spoken, for effective communication.
• Proven technical competence in Quadrotor control systems and hardware.
• Demonstrated ability to implement and tune PID Controllers and advanced state estimation filters (EKF, UKF).
• Experience with Automated Path Planning using graph algorithms.
• Strong understanding of coordinate systems (Rotation Matrices, Quaternions) and 3D robot motion control.
• Expertise in Sensor Fusion and probabilistic methods for tracking and localization.
• Flexibility in current work schedule to commit to this part-time external contractor role.

• Prior experience teaching technical concepts, public speaking, or organizing technical talks/webinars.
• Graduate of a relevant Udacity Nanodegree Program.
• A positive character profile, trusted by students, capable of creating strong emotional ties within the learning group.
