External Contractor - Data Streaming Mentor

About the Role

Join Udacity, now an Accenture company, as an External Contractor Mentor to guide and support learners through our specialized Data Streaming Nanodegree track, helping forge the next generation of tech talent.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert technical support to students via an online community forum, addressing questions related to course content.
• Facilitate learning by guiding students who encounter difficulties in their coursework.
• Host one weekly live virtual session to offer direct, real-time support and community engagement.
• Accurately redirect learners to appropriate support channels and escalate complex issues to the Mentor Operations team when necessary.

Requirements

• Minimum of 7 years of relevant industry experience OR a Master’s degree in a relevant technical field.
• Expert proficiency in Apache Kafka and the entire Kafka ecosystem (including Kafka Connect and KSQL).
• Proven ability to build and deploy solutions using Apache Spark and Spark Streaming.
• Deep understanding of Stream Processing concepts, including windowing functions and event-driven architecture.
• Experience with Data Serialization formats (e.g., Avro) and Data Schema Registry.
• Strong command of SQL as applied to stream processing aggregations.
• Fluency in both written and spoken English.
• Demonstrated flexibility to commit to this part-time external contractor role.

• Graduate of a Udacity Nanodegree Program.
• Prior experience teaching technical concepts, public speaking, or organizing technical talks/webinars.
• A positive character known for building trust and emotional connections within a technical group.
