Head of Engineering

About the Role

As Head of Engineering, you will lead the technical evolution of Tilt’s core platform and infrastructure, reporting directly to the CEO. This high-impact executive role offers the opportunity to define engineering strategy, lead key initiatives, and shape a modern engineering culture rooted in velocity, quality, and autonomy.

Responsibilities

• Define and implement Tilt’s engineering strategy, translating business goals into a robust, scalable technology roadmap.
• Build, mentor, and scale high-performing, diverse engineering teams across multiple locations.
• Drive standards for technical excellence, including quality, performance, and security.
• Foster strong cross-functional collaboration with Product, Design, and Operations.
• Help shape and accelerate the adoption of AI-assisted development workflows and product capabilities.
• Set and track key performance indicators for engineering velocity, uptime, code quality, and team health.
• Act as a strategic partner in company-wide decisions, external engagements, and investor conversations.

Requirements

• Strong experience developing and deploying highly scalable applications and APIs in production.
• Proven expertise with modern frontend frameworks, particularly VueJS.
• Extensive experience with the NodeJS ecosystem.
• Demonstrated expertise with AWS services and Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
• Strong foundation in database design and management, especially with relational databases.
• An ambitious problem-solver who thrives in fast-paced environments.
• Excellent communication skills (implied for a Head of role).
