Head of People Operations

About the Role

Lead the strategic development and execution of People Operations at Joko, a rapidly scaling tech company, and build the operational backbone for global expansion.

Responsibilities

• Build and lead the People Operations team, fostering a high-performing and scalable unit.
• Own and optimize core people processes including payroll, contracts, benefits, and onboarding/offboarding across France, Spain, and the US.
• Develop and implement country-specific HR playbooks to support international growth.
• Manage HRIS systems and people data, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and driving automation with AI.
• Ensure compliance with labor laws in relevant jurisdictions and maintain audit-ready documentation.
• Deliver a consistently positive and reliable employee experience through all People Ops interactions.
• Collaborate closely with Finance, Legal, Talent Acquisition, and Workplace Management teams.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in People Operations or HR, with significant experience managing a team in high-growth tech environments.
• Proven track record of building or rebuilding People Operations functions from the ground up.
• Deep expertise in French payroll and labor law; experience with Spanish or US employment law is a strong plus.
• Strong systems thinking and experience owning and optimizing HRIS platforms.
• Excellent analytical skills with a data-driven approach to decision-making and reporting.
• Exceptional attention to detail, organization, and a commitment to reliability.
• Entrepreneurial mindset, comfortable with ambiguity and taking initiative.
• Fluency in French and English (written and spoken).

• Experience with AI tools for People Operations automation.
