IT Engineer

About the Role

As an IT Engineer specializing in Identity and Access Management (IAM) at Chainguard, you will be the critical gatekeeper ensuring secure and effortless access for our rapidly growing team. You'll automate how teammates get the right access from day one, build guardrails for compliance, and keep our systems secure against threats.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and manage enterprise Identity and Access Management (IAM) solutions, including SSO, MFA, and directory services, to deliver exceptional user experience and robust security.
• Drive the adoption of Zero Trust and modern cloud IAM architectures across platforms like Okta, AWS, GCP, Azure, and various SaaS ecosystems.
• Build and maintain automated joiner/mover/leaver workflows using Okta Identity Lifecycle Management, Okta Workflows, and HRIS integrations to meet regulatory and business objectives.
• Lead quarterly access reviews, segregation-of-duties assessments, and role-attestation processes, leveraging automation to minimize manual effort.
• Assist the Governance and Trust team in preparing evidence for SOC 2, ISO27001, and other regulatory audits.
• Define and enforce IAM governance, Role-Based Access Control (RBAC), and policy frameworks.
• Oversee IAM platform operations and system administration to ensure high availability, reliability, and performance.
• Provide escalation support for complex IT issues and document processes to strengthen IT operations.

Requirements

• Proven experience in designing, implementing, and managing enterprise Identity and Access Management (IAM) solutions.
• Strong understanding of Single Sign-On (SSO), Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), and directory services.
• Expertise in Zero Trust principles and modern cloud IAM architectures, including platforms like Okta, AWS, GCP, and Azure.
• Experience with identity lifecycle automation, including Okta Identity Lifecycle Management and Okta Workflows.
• Familiarity with regulatory compliance frameworks such as SOC 2 and ISO27001.
• Ability to define and enforce IAM governance, RBAC, and policy frameworks.
• Excellent problem-solving, documentation, and communication skills.
