Lead Engineer, Applied AI

About the Role

As a Lead Engineer, Applied AI, you will spearhead the development of innovative AI solutions, enhancing user experiences across our platform. This is an exciting opportunity to work on real-world production use cases of large language models and lead a talented engineering team.

Responsibilities

• Drive the end-to-end development and deployment of full-stack AI projects, including AI Agents, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), and Structured Extraction.
• Architect and own the technical strategy for scalable AI solutions, optimizing for performance, reliability, and cost-efficiency.
• Lead, mentor, and grow a small team of senior engineers, fostering a culture of high-impact execution and continuous improvement.
• Collaborate closely with product leaders and designers to integrate AI capabilities seamlessly into the user experience.
• Build and enhance core infrastructure for LLM inference and internal tooling for customer-facing teams.
• Stay at the forefront of cutting-edge AI research, techniques, and tools, applying them to real-world challenges.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience as a full-stack engineer, specifically with complex web applications handling significant scale (e.g., 100k+ rpm, 100GB+ databases).
• Strong proficiency in Ruby on Rails, ReactJS, and database technologies such as MySQL/PostgreSQL, with a solid understanding of both frontend and backend development.
• Strong programming skills in at least one AI-centric language (Python, JavaScript, or TypeScript).
• Deep understanding of NLP, Machine Learning, and Large Language Model (LLM) fundamentals, including RAG and prompt engineering techniques.
• Hands-on experience with leading AI frameworks and tools (e.g., OpenAI, Anthropic, Hugging Face, LangChain, vector databases).
• Proven experience in leading and managing engineering teams, particularly in fast-paced, growth-focused environments.
• Ability to thrive in an autonomous, fast-paced setting, demonstrating personal accountability and effective collaboration.
