Lead Engineer, CMS Builder

About the Role

Join our CMS engineering team as a Lead Engineer to build and scale a powerful website builder used by millions, offering high-leverage and collaborative impact.

Responsibilities

• Lead development of high-scale backend systems for our new website builder experience.
• Collaborate closely with product, design, and leadership to shape product direction.
• Ship thoughtful, high-quality code, balancing speed with care.
• Mentor, guide, and build out a globally distributed team of engineers.
• Own end-to-end project execution, from technical planning through delivery.
• Drive performance optimizations and architectural improvements.
• Design and analyze A/B tests to validate changes and improve the product.
• Engage regularly with stakeholders to align on priorities and technical direction.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in full-stack or backend-heavy development.
• Deep knowledge of Ruby on Rails and supporting technologies (e.g., Sidekiq, Kafka, Postgres).
• Experience building performant applications at scale, mindful of load time and architectural trade-offs.
• 3+ years of experience leading or mentoring engineers in high-growth environments.
• Clear, confident communicator able to align technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Strategic thinker who can also dive into execution end-to-end.
• Self-starter thriving in a remote, async-first culture.
• Proficient in English (CEFR Level C2 / ILR Level 5).

Nice-to-Haves

• Experience collaborating closely with founders, designers, or product leads to shape early product direction.
• Familiarity with frontend development in React.
• Experience building or scaling a page builder or CMS-style product.
• Examples of using AI tools to analyze data, boost productivity, or solve complex problems.
• Prior experience as a founder or in a highly entrepreneurial environment.
