Machine Learning Manager - Ads Marketplace Quality

About the Role

Take the lead in shaping Reddit's Ads auctions to ensure relevance, a great user experience, and foundational economic growth for one of the fastest-growing ad platforms on the web.

Responsibilities

• Set the vision and product strategy for ads quality and relevance within the marketplace.
• Optimize ads delivery and auction systems through utility function design and mathematical modeling.
• Own the execution of the team’s roadmap, ensuring consistent and predictable delivery of complex Ads projects.
• Coach Tech Leads on project management and empower the team to execute autonomously.
• Drive team growth by identifying needs, writing job descriptions, sourcing, interviewing, and closing candidates.
• Guide engineers in setting and achieving career goals through development plans.
• Develop processes and tooling to continuously improve the quality and reliability of marketplace products and systems.

Requirements

• Proven experience managing an engineering team, including hiring, onboarding, and professional development.
• Strong technical background capable of solving complex problems, preferring to guide the team toward solutions.
• Demonstrated experience executing on complex Ads projects involving both mathematical modeling (auctions/bidding/optimization) and serving infrastructure.
• Technical expertise in Ads auctions or closely related domains (e.g., online ads bidding and optimization).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of collaborating effectively in a fully-remote environment and discussing complex topics with technical and non-technical audiences.
• Experience with data-driven decision-making processes.
