Machine Learning Manager - Recommendations & Forecasting

About the Role

Lead the technical vision and strategy for critical Machine Learning systems focused on advertiser recommendations and forecasting within Reddit's growing ads platform. This is an exciting opportunity to shape how advertisers engage with our unique communities using cutting-edge AI/ML.

Responsibilities

• Define and execute the long-term technical roadmap for the Auto-Bidding team, balancing innovation, efficiency, and revenue impact.
• Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of high-performance ML systems for advertiser recommendations and sales forecasting tools.
• Recruit, mentor, and retain top engineering talent, fostering a high-performing and inclusive team culture.
• Partner closely with Product Managers and other engineering teams to align technical execution with key business objectives and KPIs.
• Drive best practices for model quality, experimentation, system reliability, and operational excellence.

Requirements

• Significant experience managing engineering teams, specifically within machine learning or highly technical domains.
• Extensive hands-on experience building and operating large-scale Ads or Marketplace systems.
• Demonstrated success in managing, mentoring, and growing diverse and inclusive engineering teams.
• Expertise in designing and operating scalable systems, including high-performance serving architectures and robust data pipelines.
• Strong knowledge of metric design, experimentation methodologies, and large-scale data analysis.

Nice-to-Haves

• Hands-on experience with real-time serving systems and model optimization pipelines.
• Familiarity with control systems and algorithms such as PID controllers, multi-armed bandits, or reinforcement learning applied to bidding/pricing.
• Direct experience working within the advertising technology domain (ads delivery, targeting, or marketplace optimization).
