Manager, Engineering (Delivery)

About the Role

As an Engineering Manager on our Delivery team, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of Chainguard’s core product offerings. You will lead a talented, remote team of engineers across India and Europe, focused on delivering minimal, secure, zero-CVE container images, directly contributing to securing the software supply chain.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a team of engineers, fostering collaboration, innovation, and excellence.
• Contribute hands-on to technical work, including fulfilling new images and process automation.
• Partner with recruiting to organize and lead the interviewing process for new team members.
• Collaborate with the Technical Program Manager (TPM) to prioritize and manage the image-building backlog.
• Work closely with Customer Success, Sales, and Partner Support teams to align engineering efforts with customer needs.
• Anticipate future work demands, project timelines, and resource needs, including headcount requirements.

Requirements

• 3+ years of leadership experience, with a proven track record of leading and developing engineering teams in a high-autonomy, high-trust environment.
• At least 3 years of experience in Software Development, DevOps, or Cloud-Native engineering, including hands-on experience with Linux.
• Experience fostering a culture of learning and growth, mentoring engineers, and providing clear feedback for career development.
• Experience working for a US-centric company, collaborating across multiple time zones (Europe, US) in a distributed, remote environment.
• Strong ability to anticipate future challenges, plan for growth, and align technical work with broader business objectives.
• Experience leading teams that work with Cloud-Native technologies, including containerization (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) and cloud services (e.g., GCP, AWS).
• Ability to accommodate collaboration with teams based in India, including occasional early morning meetings within standard UK/Europe working times.
• Based in the UK (preferred) or other European locations, with the ability to collaborate effectively across time zones.

About the Team

You will be one of four Engineering Managers on the Delivery team, leveraging Chainguard-developed open-source tools like Melange, apko, and Wolfi. Your team ensures all components are built from source, are reproducible, and meet rigorous quality standards, operating on a prioritized queue-based system for efficient delivery.
