Manager, Solutions Engineering

About the Role

As a Manager, Solutions Engineering, you will lead a talented team, guiding customers through the successful adoption and implementation of Grafana Labs' observability solutions. This is an exciting opportunity to combine technical expertise with leadership, driving customer success and contributing to the growth of a leading open-source company.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and grow a team of Solutions Engineers, fostering their professional development.
• Oversee technical pre-sales activities, including product demonstrations, proof-of-concepts, and technical workshops.
• Collaborate closely with sales, product, and engineering teams to ensure customer success and provide valuable product feedback.
• Develop and implement best practices for solutions architecture, customer engagement, and technical delivery.
• Act as a technical escalation point for complex customer challenges, providing expert guidance and problem-solving.
• Contribute to the development of technical content, such as whitepapers, presentations, and best practice guides.

Requirements

• Proven experience (5+ years) in a Solutions Engineering, Sales Engineering, or Technical Consulting role.
• Demonstrated experience (2+ years) leading or managing a technical team.
• Strong understanding of observability concepts (metrics, logs, traces) and related open-source tools (e.g., Prometheus, Loki, Tempo, Grafana).
• Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
• Ability to understand complex technical requirements and translate them into effective solutions.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and their services.
• Ability to work effectively in a remote-first, distributed team environment, preferably within the EST timezone.

Nice-to-Haves

• Familiarity with open-source technologies and active participation in open-source communities.
• Direct experience with Grafana or other data visualization and monitoring tools.
• Knowledge of scripting languages (e.g., Python, Go) for automation and tooling.
