Open Source Community Advocate

About the Role

Join our mission-driven team to empower users with data insights through our leading open-source BI tool. This role is an exciting opportunity to be the voice of our customers and drive their success in the data analytics space.

Responsibilities

• Engage with and support Metabase users across public forums (Discourse, Reddit, Twitter, Slack communities).
• Provide technical assistance and guidance to users on data extraction, transformation, and querying.
• Build and nurture relationships with the Metabase community.
• Collaborate with writing and engineering teams to improve documentation and address user feedback.
• Participate in brainstorming sessions for customer-facing content.

Requirements

• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in writing production code or administering systems.
• Strong technical background with expertise in at least one of the following:
  • Running Metabase on various operating systems for multiple years.
  • Strong background in networking and web application functionality.
  • Server management (physical, Docker, AWS/GCP, etc.).
  • Database management and strong SQL skills.
• Excellent written communication skills.
• Experience with data visualization or data analytics tools.
• Comfortable being a public-facing representative for Metabase (e.g., webinars, events).

Nice-to-Haves

• Experience using Metabase.
• Fluency in multiple languages.
