Platform Accounting Analyst

About the Role

Join Kraken's Finance team as a Platform Accounting Analyst and play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting for our cutting-edge crypto platform operations. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the global adoption of crypto in a dynamic, remote-first environment across Canada, Mexico, or LATAM.

Responsibilities

• Perform detailed financial analysis and reconciliation of platform-related transactions and accounts.
• Prepare accurate financial reports, statements, and supporting documentation for internal and external stakeholders.
• Assist with month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
• Collaborate with product, engineering, and other operational teams to understand new platform features and assess their accounting implications.
• Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards (e.g., GAAP/IFRS) and regulatory requirements.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and automation within the accounting function to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
• Contribute to the development and maintenance of robust internal controls.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related quantitative field.
• 3+ years of progressive experience in accounting, financial analysis, or a similar role.
• Solid understanding of accounting principles (GAAP/IFRS) and financial reporting.
• Proven experience with financial systems and handling large datasets; strong Excel skills are essential.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, remote environment and manage multiple priorities.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, for collaborating with diverse teams.

Nice-to-Haves

• Experience in the cryptocurrency, fintech, or financial services industry.
• CPA, ACCA, or equivalent professional accounting designation.
• Familiarity with blockchain technology and crypto asset accounting.
• Experience with SQL or other data querying tools.
