Platform Engineer, Edge & Networking

Join Supabase as a Platform Engineer on our Edge & Networking squad, where you'll be instrumental in building and operating the critical network perimeter systems that power our global Postgres development platform. This is an exciting opportunity to design and implement highly automated, robust solutions that ensure low latency and high availability for developers worldwide.

About the Team

The Edge & Networking squad is responsible for everything at Supabase's network perimeter, including API gateways, routing, load balancing, DNS, and secure global traffic distribution. You will work closely with other infrastructure and product teams to ensure seamless integration, observability, and performance of our edge services.

Responsibilities

• Help build and maintain the Supabase Cloud offering.
• Design and implement Supabase’s global edge router platform.
• Build programmable, API-driven routing logic to dynamically steer customer traffic.
• Work with and integrate technologies like DNS, WAF, IP networking, TLS termination, CDNs, and global load balancing.
• Implement advanced observability, including metric and log capturing, latency measurements, traffic shaping, routing health, and failure mitigation.
• Optimize routing performance to minimize latency and improve reliability across cloud regions.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with other teams to integrate networking solutions into the entire Supabase stack.
• Improve system architecture to reduce costs while balancing security, reliability, and performance.
• Design CI/CD systems for edge and networking infrastructure.

Requirements

• Proven experience designing, building, and operating robust, highly automated network systems.
• Strong expertise in network perimeter technologies such as API gateways, routing, load balancing, DNS, WAF, IP networking, TLS termination, and CDNs.
• Experience with implementing advanced observability for critical infrastructure.
• Demonstrated ability to optimize network performance for low latency and high reliability.
• Collaborative mindset with excellent communication skills for cross-functional teamwork.
• Familiarity with CI/CD practices for infrastructure deployment and management.
