Postgres Engineer

About the Role

Join our Postgres Team as a Senior Postgres Engineer to enhance the stability and functionality of our hosted Postgres offering. You will collaborate with various teams and customers to ensure a secure, stable, performant, and functional Postgres foundation, building developer tools that scale to millions.

Responsibilities

• Apply deep knowledge of PostgreSQL internals, including parser, planner, WAL mechanics, and MVCC implementation.
• Build PostgreSQL extensions using C and Rust.
• Troubleshoot managed PostgreSQL deployments, diagnosing issues with custom extensions, analyzing core dumps, and resolving performance problems.
• Design, test, and own idempotent deployments for thousands of Postgres instances.
• Manage complex extension ecosystems, understanding compatibility, upgrade paths, and potential conflicts.
• Utilize PostgreSQL's background worker framework, shared memory management, and hook system.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience with PostgreSQL security, encryption, Row Level Security (RLS), and permissions.
• Ability to communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Experience working in asynchronous or globally distributed teams.
• Passion for solving real-world problems for developers.
• Comfortable navigating ambiguity and working in a fast-paced environment.
