Rust Engineer

About the Role

Join our team as a Rust Engineer to innovate on our PostgreSQL projects, directly contributing to technical choices and processes within the PostgreSQL tools team.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the development and refinement of Supabase's Rust projects, including pg_replicate, wrappers, pg_graphql, dbdev, and pg_jsonschema.
• Participate in the successful rollout and ongoing development of pl/rust.
• Design and develop PostgreSQL extensions and the dbdev package index.
• Build and dogfood internal tools within the Supabase ecosystem.
• Interact with customers to understand needs and provide support.
• Triage and resolve GitHub issues.

Requirements

• Strong expertise in Rust programming, including its unique features, concurrency, and architectural decision-making in large codebases.
• Experience with system design and infrastructure, including cloud environments and familiarity with Kubernetes.
• Solid understanding of PostgreSQL, ideally with experience in extensions or high-performance contexts.
• Foundational knowledge of distributed systems concepts (consistency, fault tolerance, consensus).
• Proven ability to self-manage, work asynchronously, and drive initiatives to completion in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency with Git and modern version control practices.
• Customer-centric mindset and willingness to engage with users to solve their problems.

Nice-to-Haves

• Deep experience with PostgreSQL, particularly as an extension author.
• Familiarity with GraphQL.
• Prior contributions to large open-source projects, especially in Rust.
