Senior Analytics Engineer (Contractor)

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Analytics Engineer to join our data team as a contractor, focusing on applying software engineering best practices to transform, test, and document critical business data.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain robust data pipelines, optimizing SQL query performance for all models.
• Transform raw data into reliable, clean datasets and actionable business insights for end-users.
• Apply software engineering principles, including version control and continuous integration, to the analytics codebase.
• Implement advanced data testing strategies and validation checks to ensure data quality aligns with expected business logic.
• Create data visualizations and assist stakeholders in understanding available data exploration tools.
• Lead problem definition, scoping, design, and planning for data initiatives.

Requirements

• 6+ years of professional experience working with data in a software environment.
• Mastered proficiency in SQL and Python.
• Advanced experience managing business semantic layer tooling, data catalog tooling, and data integrity testing frameworks.
• Proven experience with dbt orchestration and best practices.
• Demonstrated track record of working autonomously with deep domain knowledge of data systems.

Nice-to-Haves

• Experience with cloud-based infrastructure (AWS, GCP, Terraform).
• Familiarity with document, graph, or schema-less datastores.
• Experience utilizing DAG tooling such as Dagster or Airflow.

Tech Stack

• Core Technologies: SQL, Python, dbt, Tableau.
• Infrastructure: Relational datastores, DAG tooling (e.g., Airflow/Dagster).
