Responsibilities

• Own and evolve the architecture of Reddit's Android application to support massive user growth.
• Enhance the Android developer experience through tools, workflows, and CI integrations.
• Define and implement guardrails for code quality and issue detection.
• Build and maintain client health and observability foundations for improved user experiences.
• Apply AI thoughtfully to engineering workflows to boost productivity and user experience.
• Mentor and support fellow Android engineers on platform capabilities and best practices.

Requirements

• 5+ years of software development experience, with 3+ years focused on Android application development.
• Proven experience working within a large codebase serving millions of daily active users and hundreds of engineers.
• Proficiency with modern Android development technologies, including Jetpack Compose and Kotlin coroutines.
• Strong background in Android platform or infrastructure work (e.g., shared libraries, frameworks, experiments, navigation, networking).
• Passion for developing scalable, well-designed software that improves user lives.
• Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams (design, product, data).
• Practical experience applying AI to engineering workflows with measurable benefits.

Nice-to-Haves

• Experience with AI-assisted code generation, refactoring, static analysis, or CI checks.
• Deep understanding of mobile app performance optimization and crash/ANR analysis.
