Senior Backend Engineer (Elixir)

About the Role

Join our global engineering team to build scalable, high-impact HR and payroll solutions that empower businesses to manage international teams with ease. You will play a pivotal role in evolving our platform architecture while leveraging automation and AI to redefine how we ship software.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development of major team-scoped projects and participate in cross-team initiatives.
• Design and operationalize agentic workflows to accelerate delivery and improve system reliability.
• Build reusable agentic primitives and verification loops to ensure secure and scalable code.
• Mentor team members, conduct code reviews, and contribute to the shared codebase.
• Collaborate with product teams to suggest improvements and solve complex business challenges.

Requirements

• Strong engineering fundamentals with a track record of shipping secure, reliable, and scalable production systems.
• Proficiency in Elixir and Phoenix, or deep experience in functional programming with a willingness to learn.
• Practical experience designing or adopting automation and agentic workflows.
• Strong proficiency with PostgreSQL and CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitLab, GitHub).
• Demonstrated ability to think in systems and improve processes through iteration.

Nice-to-Haves

• Experience with Kubernetes and Docker containerization.
• Familiarity with AWS cloud infrastructure.
• Frontend experience with React or Next.js.
• Experience with domain-driven design and microservices architecture.
