Senior Backend Engineer (Elixir)

Responsibilities

• Lead the development of major team-scoped projects and contribute to cross-team initiatives for our HR and payroll products.
• Design and operationalize agentic workflows to automate engineering processes and improve delivery speed.
• Mentor other engineers, provide constructive code reviews, and contribute to the shared codebase.
• Debug complex technical issues and implement performance-oriented API designs.
• Participate in non-team activities such as hiring, RFC discussions, and platform improvements.

Requirements

• Strong engineering fundamentals with a proven track record of shipping secure, reliable, and scalable production systems.
• Professional experience with Elixir and Phoenix, or deep experience in functional programming with a willingness to master Elixir.
• Proficiency with Postgres and CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitLab, GitHub Actions).
• Demonstrated ability to design automation workflows and AI-driven systems.
• Strong systems-thinking skills with the ability to define clear specifications and verification loops.

Nice-to-Haves

• Experience with cloud infrastructure, specifically AWS.
• Familiarity with containerization tools like Docker and Kubernetes.
• Frontend experience with React or Next.js.
