Senior Backend Engineer (Elixir)

Responsibilities

• Lead the development of major backend projects using Elixir and Phoenix.
• Design, build, and maintain robust APIs and integrations for HR and Payroll products.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and implement new features.
• Participate in code reviews, provide technical feedback, and mentor junior engineers.
• Debug and resolve complex technical and business issues.
• Drive improvements in system performance, reliability, and scalability.
• Implement and operationalize agentic workflows for faster, more efficient development cycles.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Backend Engineer with a strong track record of shipping production systems.
• Practical experience with Elixir and the Phoenix framework.
• Solid understanding of relational databases, particularly PostgreSQL.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitLab).
• Ability to think in systems, define clear specifications, and ensure quality through verification.
• Experience designing or adopting agentic/automation workflows.

Nice-to-Haves

• Experience with Kubernetes and Docker.
• Familiarity with AWS cloud services.
• Exposure to frontend technologies like React or Next.js.
