Senior Backend Engineer

About the Role

Join Deel as a Senior Backend Engineer, where you'll be instrumental in building and scaling our global payroll and HR platform. This remote role in Serbia offers an exciting opportunity to leverage Node.js and AWS to create innovative solutions that empower businesses and talent worldwide.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy highly scalable and reliable backend services using Node.js.
• Architect and implement solutions leveraging various AWS cloud services (e.g., Lambda, EC2, S3, DynamoDB, RDS).
• Collaborate closely with product, frontend, and other engineering teams to define and deliver features.
• Ensure the performance, security, and maintainability of our backend systems.
• Participate in code reviews, mentor junior engineers, and contribute to technical best practices.

Requirements

• Extensive professional experience as a Backend Engineer, with a strong focus on Node.js.
• Proven expertise in designing, deploying, and managing applications on AWS.
• Solid understanding of microservices architecture and API design (RESTful, GraphQL).
• Proficiency with database technologies, both SQL and NoSQL.
• Experience with distributed systems and handling high-volume data.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently in a remote setting.

Nice-to-Haves

• Experience with other backend languages or frameworks.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
• Knowledge of containerization technologies like Docker or Kubernetes.
• Understanding of global payroll, HR, or fintech domains.
