Join our team as a Senior Backend Engineer focusing on Authentication, where you'll play a crucial role in building the future of secure and seamless access at GitLab. You will enhance our access token strategies and consolidate authorization checks to ensure robust and user-friendly security.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable and secure authentication and authorization systems.
• Implement and improve access token strategies to enhance user experience and security.
• Drive the consolidation of authorization checks across various GitLab services.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and implement secure API designs.
• Ensure high standards of code quality, performance, and security through best practices and code reviews.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Backend Engineer, with significant expertise in Ruby on Rails.
• Strong understanding of authentication and authorization protocols (e.g., OAuth, OpenID Connect, SAML).
• Experience designing and implementing secure, high-performance APIs.
• Familiarity with security best practices and common web vulnerabilities.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently in a remote environment.
