Senior Backend Engineer

About the Role

Join Deel as a Senior Backend Engineer, where you'll be instrumental in building and scaling the core services of our all-in-one global HR and payroll platform. This is an exciting opportunity to tackle complex challenges that impact millions, shaping the future of global work.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain highly scalable and reliable backend services using Node.js.
• Implement and manage cloud-native solutions leveraging various AWS services (e.g., Lambda, EC2, S3, DynamoDB, RDS, SQS, SNS).
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features.
• Ensure the performance, security, and operational excellence of our backend systems.
• Participate in code reviews, provide constructive feedback, and mentor junior engineers.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex production issues efficiently.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional experience in backend development, with a strong focus on Node.js.
• Extensive hands-on experience with AWS cloud services and architecture.
• Proficient in designing and implementing RESTful APIs and microservices.
• Solid understanding of database technologies, both SQL (e.g., PostgreSQL) and NoSQL (e.g., DynamoDB).
• Experience with modern software development practices, including testing, CI/CD, and monitoring.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

• Experience with TypeScript.
• Familiarity with global payroll, HR, or financial technology domains.
• Contributions to open-source projects or active participation in tech communities.
• Experience working in a globally distributed team.
