Senior Data Scientist - Risk

About the Role

Join our newly formed Risk team to architect the next generation of decisioning systems and help define how we measure and manage risk in the evolving Bitcoin landscape. This is a high-impact, analytics-first role where you will shape foundational data infrastructure and influence product strategy to protect our community.

Responsibilities

• Partner with engineering to define the architecture and technical strategy for internal risk systems and tooling.
• Analyze fraud, scam, and abuse patterns to guide prioritization and evaluate the impact of risk controls.
• Build and maintain reporting that tracks fraud loss, false positives, and operational efficiency.
• Apply statistical methods and selective machine learning techniques to improve decision quality and signal detection.
• Communicate complex analytical insights clearly to senior stakeholders to drive business decisions.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience as a Data Scientist, Decision Scientist, or in a similar analytical role.
• Strong proficiency in SQL and Python.
• Experience with fraud, risk, trust and safety, AML, or compliance analytics.
• Proven ability to perform deep analytical work using regression, classification, experiment design, or causal inference.
• Experience working with modern cloud data warehouses and tooling such as Snowflake and dbt.

• Experience working in fintech, payments, or regulated industries.
• Strong interest in Bitcoin and cryptocurrency markets.
• Ability to lead through ambiguity and shape long-term technical roadmaps.
