Senior DevOps Engineer

About the Role

Join our Platform and Core Services team as a Senior DevOps Engineer, where you'll be instrumental in owning and operating the cloud services and developer tools that power our educational platform. This role offers an exciting opportunity to drive infrastructure-as-code principles, automate everything, and contribute to a mission of radical talent transformation.

Responsibilities

• Implement and support Udacity's production platform, ensuring high availability and performance.
• Innovate within the engineering platform by researching and incorporating new technologies and best practices.
• Manage and optimize our fleet of cloud services across AWS and Cloudflare.
• Provide expert support and advice to developers building new student-facing applications.
• Configure cloud infrastructure, develop new tools and services, and help resolve production service outages.

Requirements

• Significant experience with infrastructure-as-code and a strong "automate everything" mindset.
• Proficiency with cloud infrastructure tools such as Terraform and Docker.
• Experience managing cloud services in environments like AWS and Cloudflare.
• Ability to read, debug, and write code, primarily in Go.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to teach best practices to other teams.

Nice-to-Haves

• Familiarity with Typescript, Python, or Ruby.
• Experience with multi-region Kubernetes deployments and multi-master databases.
• Understanding of the theory and practice of distributed systems.
