Senior Engineering Manager, Developer Productivity

About the Role

Lead our efforts to revolutionize software development at Reddit by building AI-assisted workflows and platforms that empower engineers to ship high-quality code faster and more safely. This role is pivotal in defining the future of AI-native engineering, balancing rapid innovation with the reliability and security standards required at scale.

Responsibilities

• Lead and grow high-performing engineering teams focused on AI-native developer productivity, fostering a culture of technical excellence and inclusion.
• Partner with infrastructure and product leaders to translate strategy into scalable roadmaps for agent infrastructure, LLM governance, and developer tooling.
• Define the operating model for AI-native development, creating paved paths that support experimentation while maintaining operational standards.
• Build and operationalize measurement systems to track engineering outcomes, ensuring AI tools deliver measurable value rather than just increased activity.
• Drive alignment across cross-functional stakeholders including security, compliance, machine learning, and product engineering.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in software engineering, engineering management, infrastructure, or platform engineering.
• Proven track record of managing high-performing teams delivering large-scale technical platforms with cross-functional dependencies.
• Deep fluency in developer productivity systems such as CI/CD, code review, testing, deployment, and observability.
• Strong understanding of AI and LLM-enabled software development, including agent workflows, governance, evaluation, and operational risk management.
• Ability to influence senior leadership and communicate complex technical strategies to diverse stakeholders.

Nice-to-Haves

• Experience building internal developer platforms (IDP) or self-service developer tools.
• Background in implementing AI governance and cost-control frameworks within large engineering organizations.
• Experience with data-driven engineering management and defining developer experience (DevEx) metrics.
